Wrap blouse Winu White
When a german-indian fair fashion label and a fair fashion blogger get together to design a piece of garment, this beautiful wrap blouse is the result. The blouse is ecologically and socially sustainable and also wearable in different ways. The blogger Mia from „heylilahey“ has already been looking for a long time for the possibility to create a favourite piece of clothes which meets all her requierments. Along this journey she has found in Jyoti – Fair Works the perfect partner to fulfil this vision. The wrap-blouse Winu gets sewn by the women working together with Jyoti in India and is made of handwoven cotton and peace-silk. Moreover this design underlies a zero-waste-cut. Jyoti - Fair Works is a German-Indian brand that produces in a fair and ecological way. The goal of Jyoti is to make clothing that not only makes you happy, but also the people that make the clothing. This starts with the raw cotton. The cotton that Jyoti uses is mainly GOTS certified fair and organic, a small part is not yet certified because a small part of the weaving companies with which Jyoti cooperates does not yet have access to certified cotton. The collaboration with Jyoti, however, gives them the chance to switch to certified organic cotton, which they will soon do.
Jyoti uses fabric that comes from various weaving companies. Jyoti puts a lot of effort into making sure that all these companies produce in a fair way. Not all of them have certifications, often because this is too expensive for them, but Jyoti has visited every workplace to see how the work is going. You can read all about Jyoti's producers on their website.
The clothing is then sewn together in a small sewing workshop in Chittapur by seamstresses who have a social disadvantage. The eleven seamstresses who work there receive a fair wage and the opportunity for training and healthcare. They are given the opportunity to work around their children's school schedule and can take out an interest-free loan with Jyoti, for example for investing in a gas stove to replace their polluting wood stove.
From seed to garment, the entire production process takes place in India, by demanding fair and environmentally friendly working conditions, Jyoti - Fair Works makes the world a little more beautiful.
