The makers of Malimo wanted to create a brand that is always one step ahead of fashion. Fashion that connects people and the values of our planet. Malimo means individual style with a good conscience. Malimo plants ten trees for each order. The earth is important to Malimo, so they work together with Eden Projects to make the world a greener, more beautiful place. The upcycled collection from Malimo is made entirely from upcycled silk. It's made from scraps of fabric that would otherwise have been thrown away. Each piece of clothing is made by passionate tailors who work at fair hours in a safe environment for a fair wage. Malimo works closely with a family of tailors in Mumbai whom they met on one of their travels. The coats are currently made by five tailors and two helpers who are all family members or friends. They are between 20 and 40 years old and all earn an above average wage from which they cover their needs and support their families. They work a maximum of 8 hours a day, with a break of 45 minutes, and they have a safe and comfortable working place.
