It is handwoven on a backstrap loom by the Maya collective Kamolon Ki Konojel from Sololá, Guatemala. This cooperative is made up of 180 skilled backstrap weavers who carefully blend the bamboo threads to create beautiful textures and colors.

The Guatemalan women make beautiful designs that combine traditional and modern and they get paid fair wages for their work, which ensures that they can support their children. 

Environmentally Friendly: For the wool collection Quetzal Artisan uses materials such as bamboo, alpaca wool, and organic cotton, which are spun in the Andes mountains of South America. For the Guatemalan collection, they only use natural materials such as cotton and viscose, and they paint by hand using natural paint products such as tree bark and flowers.
