Matona is a true family business. The brand was founded by Katharina and David, a photographer and a fashion designer. It started when Katharina began to make clothing for their son. It quickly became a bigger thing and the brand Matona was brought into life. The production was moved to small factories in Portugal, and they now have a beautiful collection both kids and grown-ups. Katharina and David founded the brand with the sole purpose to set a positive mark in the fashion industry. They are 100% committed to fair working conditions and sustainable processes when it comes to manufacturing and business practice.
Fair trade: All the clothing from Matona is ethically made in Portugal in small GOTS certified factories. This ensures good working conditions and also environmentally friendly production. For the materials they also work with GOTS certified materials, and with materials produced in Portugal, so that they can easily make sure that they are produced ethically.
Locally produced: The clothing is produced in Portugal, and the materials are sourced from Europe.
Environmentally friendly: Matona uses sustainable materials for their products such as: Linen, GOTS certified organic cotton, and recycled yarns. The dyes they use are GOTS certified, and the production as well, which means that they meet high environmental standards.
Matona only uses recycled paper for its packaging material.
Vegan: Matona uses recycled yarns, so cannot say for sure that their brand is completely vegan. No animals were harmed in the creation of the products.
Good Cause: Matona supports several charities, but this changes throughout the year.
